Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I schedule a dental exam?

It’s important to schedule a regular dental check-up and professional cleaning at least every six months, or twice a year. This allows us to eliminate any plaque or bacteria built-up in difficult places your toothbrush can’t reach. Dental exams also prevent further oral health issues, like cavities, gum disease, and even tooth loss.

When should children have their first dental visit?

It’s recommended that you schedule your child’s first dental visit around the age of four to six months old. During this time, children’s primary (baby) teeth become erupted, or when they begin to show through the gum line. Their first visit is focused on educating children on the importance of good oral hygiene and how to properly take care of their teeth at home.

I’m afraid of the dentist. How can you help?

Dr. Berchelmann and our highly trained team will do everything they can to ensure each patient feels comfortable while visiting Berchelmann Family Dental. When you enter our office, you’ll be greeted with warmth, compassion, and friendliness. We offer sedation dentistry to maximize your comfort and help you feel completely worry-free.

What can I do to maintain good oral health?

To maintain the health of your teeth and gums, it’s important to use a soft-bristled brush at least twice a day, floss regularly, and rinse in between meals. You should also schedule regular dental check-ups and cleanings at least every six months, or twice a year. This allows us to help eliminate any built-up plaque or bacteria, and prevent cavities, gum disease, and more.
